Our Key Principles

  • Wellbeing and thriving are the result of integration and balance among the main areas and functions of the brain (lower brain, midbrain, and cortex).
  • Practice and experience can stimulate growth and development in these functional areas.
  • Vulnerability in one or more areas can hinder integration and undermine wellbeing.
  • Functional areas support each other in a multi-directional way (top-down/bottom-up).
  • Wellbeing is cultivated in the context of community. Conversely, states of integration enable the individual to take part in meaningful community life. Mind, therefore, is a relational and communal entity.
